Indeed, researchers would do well to blog more than they do. The experience of journals such as Cell and PLoS ONE, which allow people to comment on papers online, suggests that researchers are very reluctant to engage in such forums. But the blogosphere tends to be less inhibited, and technical discussions there seem likely to increase.

Studie im medizinischen Bereich. URL decay in MEDLINE – a 4-year follow-up study
Für andere Bereiche sieht das sicher nicht besser aus.
Wie steht es eigentlich mit diesem Blog? Wäre doch ein schönes Thema für eine Seminararbeit.
Ich schätze etwa 20-30% aller Links zu externen URLs im IB Weblog (Jahre 2003-2005) sind inzwischen faul.
Gibt es ähnliche Untersuchungen zu Blogs, OA journals usw.? Bin mal gespannt auf die Postings der lib 2~0 Experten.

Unter den 2212 Forschern, die den Fragebogen beantworteten, gaben knapp 9 Prozent an, dass sie in den drei vergangenen Jahren im eigenen Department wissenschaftliches Fehlverhalten von Fachkollegen selbst beobachtet oder belegbar festgestellt hätten.

so der Titel des heutigen SPARC OA newsletters. Das Argument der Beschleunigung der Fehlerbehebung innerhalb der Wissenschaft habe ich in diesem Zusammenhang noch nicht gehört.
Sehr simple aber auch sehr einleuchtend.
The thesis in a nutshell is that OA facilitates the testing and validation of knowledge claims. OA enhances the process by which science is self-correcting. OA improves the reliability of inquiry.
