Neues aus der E-Bibliothek, in der New York Times
With the explosion of new technologies that have moved readers, especially younger ones, from the library stacks to computer screens and earphones, public libraries are struggling to find ways to remain current. One of the biggest innovations is downloadable books, which allow readers to “check out” books without setting foot in a library.
Bereits im fernen Monat April dieses Jahres gab es in der New York Times einen Beitrag dazu, wie sich die P(ublic)-Library zur E-Library wandelt. Unter anderen wird darin erwähnt – und dies passt ganz gut zum gestrigen BBK – dass reading books, also eigentlich so genannte talking books, für Menschen mit Sehbehinderung gerade im mp3-Format keine schlechte Option darstellen.
